Note the fully working pace car flashers…can you tell the bit of stir craziness from lack of sleep was starting to take over?

Total miles when they got to Nelson Ledges was about 3185

Going through the Blue Mountain Tunnel

May 8, 2010

The guys took a quick video of the Blue Mountian Tunnel. This was on the drive between the NJ Motorsports Park and Nelson Ledges raceway on Thurs, 5/6/2010

I had to do a search to see exactly where it was, so here’s a map you can view to get a good idea.

Back to South Bend.

May 7, 2010

The end is in sight! We are on the last leg of our 4500 mile journey. South Bend is about 230 miles away and I am already thinking of the steak dinner awaiting us!
Nelson Ledges was a blast, a little cold and cloudy, but the predicted rain missed us. Remarkably we had no rain at any of our track events.
The Mustang GTS of Mark Blaha went out with a bang and a big cloud of smoke, and a trail of engine parts scattered in his wake! Amanda Hennessey had the side airbags go off on her HHR SS after she caught the edge of a curb. And somebody else ran out of gas on the course, but I won’t say who, but he drives a Vintage American car that is white and he has done the event 21 times in the same car. Obviously not enough times to know better!
Thanks to fellow lap dog Eric Luecke from Hankook Tires for stopping by to say hi and see how their tires are holding up. The tires are holding up great, or at least they will have until I destroy them tomorrow in the celebratory burnouts at the Tire Rack! Lots more pictures and videos to follow when we arrive at the hotel.
